LISBON, Oct. 28 (Xinhua) -- A Portuguese taxi driver detained during a protest here against the ride app service Uber earlier this month was imposed on Friday a fine of 1,950 euros (2,132 U.S. dollars).
Bruno Hernando was condemned for having ruined the rear-view mirror of a police car while taking part in a protest on Oct. 10.
Lisbon's Petty Criminal Court also said he would have to pay 181.15 euros to repair the rear-view mirror he broke.
Two other taxi drivers who were detained in the protest are also being tried.
Thousands of taxi drivers blocked an access to Lisbon's international airport during the protest on Oct. 10 to protest ride-hailing apps, which they said were unfair competition due to not being subjected to the same tax, training and safety regulations.
They have vowed to hold more protests after they failed to reach an agreement with the government on the issue.
