VIENTIANE, Oct. 26 (Xinhua) -- The Lao stock market closed on Wednesday down 0.54 percent against the previous trading day.
The Lao Securities Exchange composite index decreased by 5.38 points to 995.21 points. A total of 58,000 shares worth about 283.875 million Lao kip (over 34,934 U.S. dollars) changed hands at the stock market.
There are five companies listed at Lao stock market. Two of them saw no trade on Wednesday, including Lao World Public Company (LWPC) and Souvanny Home Center Public Company (SVN).
Shares of state-run energy giant Electricite du Laos Generation Public Company (EDL-Gen) and Lao commercial bank Banque Pour Le Commerce Exterieur Lao (BCEL) remained unchanged after trading, staying at 4,900 Lao kip (over 60 U.S. cents) and 5,200 Lao kip (nearly 64 U.S. cents), respectively.
Meanwhile, shares of Petroleum Trading Lao Public Company (PTL) fell by eight percent to stay at 2,300 Lao kip (over 28 U.S. cents).
