TOKYO, Oct. 26 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo stocks lost ground Wednesday morning following U.S. shares retreating after below par corporate earnings reports and consumer data that failed to impress stoking concerns here about the world's largest economy.
The 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average lost 33.76 points, or 0.19 percent, from Tuesday to 17,331.49.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange, meanwhile, dropped 0.87 point, or 0.06 percent, to 1,376.45.
Notable decliners by the morning break comprised mining, rubber product and machinery-linked issues.
