TOKYO, Oct. 26 (Xinhua) -- Tokyo shares opened lower Wednesday on weaker U.S. stocks overnight following the release of weaker-than-expected consumer confidence data.
As of 9:15 a.m., the 225-issue Nikkei Stock Average fell 32.43 points, or 0.19 percent, from Tuesday to 17,332.82.
The broader Topix index of all First Section issues on the Tokyo Stock Exchange was down 1.22 points, or 0.09 percent, to 1,376.10.
Decliners were led by mining, machinery and marine transportation issues.
