TEHRAN, Oct. 25 (Xinhua) -- Iran plans to generate 1,000 megawatts of electricity from renewable resources by 2021, semi-official Fars news agency reported Tuesday.
Deputy Energy Minister Alireza Daemi made the announcement at a Tuesday meeting of Tehran Chamber of Commerce, saying the ministry will arrange technology transfer, investment in domestic projects and joint ventures with foreign companies.
Studies show Iran's average temperature has risen by two degrees since 1980, and the figure may more than double by 2050, said the deputy minister.
The total generation capacity of Iran's power plants is 75,000 megawatts, but only less than one percent comes from renewable resources.
