COPENHAGEN, Oct. 24 (Xinhua) -- Denmark has registered a rising foreign direct investment (FDI) in 2015, the second year in a row the figure is upward, data released by the National Bank of Denmark showed Monday.

According to the bank, FDI in Denmark in 2015 was 684 billion Danish kroner (about 100 billion U.S. dollars), up 4.4 percent from 655 billion kroner registered in 2014.

"It is good to see that other countries are showing an increased interest in investing in Denmark," says Kent Damsgaard, deputy director of the Confederation of Danish Industry.

Damsgaard said there was a period in which it had been difficult for the small Scandinavian country to attract foreign businesses.

"But this trend seems now, luckily, to have been reversed," he said.

Damsgaard said foreign businesses bring in a great deal of knowhow, noting "This knowhow is important because it contributes to increasing productivity across the Danish business community."

Meanwhile, Danish investment abroad increased 79 billion kroner to 1.163 trillion kroner in 2015, according to the National Bank of Denmark.

Damsgaard said this indicates that Danish businesses want to secure a presence in high-growth markets far from Denmark. (1 U.S. dollar = 6.83 Danish kroner)
