RIO DE JANEIRO, Oct. 24 (Xinhua) -- At least six people were killed and another 40 injured after a passenger bus and pickup truck collided head on in southeast Brazil, officials reported on Monday.
The crash occurred Sunday night along a highway linking the cities of Ewbank de Camara and Santos Dumont, in Minas Gerais state, the Federal Highway Police (PRF) said.
The pickup, which was carrying a cargo of cookies, skidded going around a curve and crashed head on into the bus, which was taking 47 passengers from Rio de Janeiro to Belo Horizonte, the capital of Minas Gerais.
According to initial report, five bus passengers died on site. The sixth fatal victim was the driver of the pickup.
Another 40 injured passengers were taken to a nearby hospital for treatment, with two to three of them in very serious conditions.
