AMMAN, Oct. 24 (Xinhua) -- Jordan agreed on Monday to host the upcoming 28th Arab Summit, the state-run Petra news agency reported.
King Abdullah II of Jordan issued instructions for preparations to host the Arab Summit, where heads of Arab states convene to discuss latest issues of concern to the Arab world.
Jordan's Minister of Foreign Affairs Nasser Judeh informed the Arab League that Jordan agreed to host the Arab Summit.
The summit slated for next year was scheduled to be held in Yemen, but Yemeni government said it was unable to host it due to the crisis in the country.
Judeh said measures will be taken soon to start preparations for the summit.
The Arab League summits are traditionally held in late March.
The 2016 Arab League Summit was held in Nouakchott, Mauritania from June 25-27, 2016. The summit was focused mostly on Yemen and other regional issues.
