KATHMANDU, Oct. 24 (Xinhua) -- Nepal has formed a foreign aid coordination and facilitation committee with the participation of the Nepali government, China, India, the World Bank and the Asian Development Bank.

The committee aims at ensuring proper coordination while carrying out post-quake reconstruction work with foreign aid.

The two neighbouring countries along with two multilateral institutions have committed the largest amount of aid for the post-earthquake reconstruction efforts in Nepal.

Nepalese Prime Minister Puspa Kamal Dahal, who is also the chairperson of the National Reconstruction Authority (NRA) Advisory Council, formed the mechanism involving the government, other Nepalese stakeholders and the donors under the coordination of authority's chief executive officer Sushil Gyawali, according to a press release issued by the NRA on Sunday.

Beside representatives from the government and other Nepalese stakeholders, one representative each from four donors will be part of the mechanism. The committee has been tasked to encourage domestic and foreign donors, civil society and the private sector to contribute to the reconstruction work here.

As per the terms of references given to the committee, it will provide necessary suggestions to the Nepali government, the authority, donors and other concerned agencies after conducting monitoring and review of the progress in reconstruction activities carried out with foreign aid.

The committee will work to bring uniformity and avoid duplicity in implementation of foreign aided reconstruction activities, NRA said.
