DUBAI, Oct. 23 (Xinhua) -- Dubai has reduced its peak arrival delay by 40 percent at Dubai International Airport (DXB) with an innovative air traffic management procedure, said the chairman of Dubai Airports here Sunday.
Sheikh Ahmed Bin Saeed Al-Maktoum, also the chairman and CEO of United Arab Emirates' (UAE) biggest carrier Emirates Airline, said so in an e-mailed statement, referring the management procedure as the Approach Peak Offload (APO) procedure.
APO also increased the average air traffic movements for arrivals during peak hours, said the statement.
Several key air traffic movements capacity enhancement projects has been launched in the emirate of Dubai to deliver better traffic management services and cater the rising demand for travel, said Mohammed Ahli, Director General of Dubai Civil Aviation Authority.
The implementation of APO also enabled reduction of carbon dioxide emissions by up to 447 tons on a monthly basis, Dubai Air Navigation Services (DANS) claimed.
Figures show that DXB, the world's busiest airport in terms of international travels, targets 85 million passengers in 2016, up from 78 million in 2015.
