VIENTIANE, Oct. 17 (Xinhua) -- Lao police has recently teamed up with border soldiers to arrest two men after confiscating more than 500 kg chemicals used to make drugs, three guns, bullets, some money and other items in Tang-aor village, Tonpheung district in Laos' northern Bokeo province, online newspaper Vientiane Times reported Monday.

Police tracked the men's movements after receiving a report from local people that someone would be moving illegal drugs through Tang-aor village, some 340 km northwest of Lao capital Vientiane by aerial distance. They subsequently stopped a pick-up truck and found drug precursors and other items hidden inside.

The two men confessed to owning the illegal chemicals obtained from a man in Mayphoukha village of Bokeo, and were taking the chemicals to sell in the province's Meung district.

In another drug bust in September, Bokeo provincial police seized 200,000 amphetamine pills being transported by pick-up truck and detained the driver.

Police are continuing their investigations into the two cases and trying to identify other people involved in the drug rings before sending the suspects to court. Enditem
