VIENTIANE, Oct. 17 (Xinhua) -- Laos Samsung Electronics Sole Co., Ltd. has announced that it will offer a full refund or exchange for new products for the original or replacement Galaxy Note 7 devices following reports suggesting that the replacement Galaxy Note7 is also catching fire.

In a statement, the company advised people who own a Note 7, whether it is an original or a replacement, to turn off the power and stop using the device.

"Customer safety is our top priority. Following recently reported cases involving the Galaxy Note 7, we have taken the decision to stop all sales and exchanges of both original and replacement Galaxy Note 7 devices. Consequently, we have permanently discontinued production of the device," local Vientiane Times online newspaper on Monday cited the company's statement.

The company invites everyone who owns an original or replacement Galaxy Note 7 to exchange it for a Galaxy S7 Edge, Galaxy S7 or Galaxy Note 5 with a refund of the price difference between devices plus 100 U.S. dollars in cash. Alternatively, owners can obtain a full refund, said Vientiane Times.

A series of cases of Samsung Galaxy Note 7 battery explosions have occurred worldwide since the new products were released in August.

On Oct. 11, Samsung decided to permanently stop its production and sales of the Galaxy Note 7 smart phones globally after failing to solve the battery problems.
