SUVA, Oct. 17 (Xinhua) -- Fiji Airways, the Pacific island country's national carrier, has imposed ban on Samsung Galaxy Note 7 devices on all of their flights amid safety concerns, the government-owned Fiji Broadcasting Corporation said Monday.

In a statement, Fiji Airways as well as its local service branch Fiji Link said Samsung Galaxy Note 7 smart phones are prohibited and cannot be brought on any flight in person, in carry-on baggage, checked-in baggage or as freight.

Safety of guests and crew is priority, Fiji Airways underscored.

A series of cases of Samsung Galaxy Note 7 battery explosions have occurred worldwide since the new products were released in August.

On Oct. 11, Samsung decided to permanently stop its production and sales of the Galaxy Note 7 smart phones globally after failing to solve the battery problems.
