NEW DELHI, Oct.15 (Xinhua) -- At least five shops were gutted Saturday in a devastating fire in Indian capital city of New Delhi, officials said.
However, no loss of life or injury was reported so far in the inferno.
The fire broke out in Mongolpuri oil market early morning, following which locals called fire and emergency officials.
"Five shops were gutted today in a fire incident at Mongolpuri oil market in North-West Delhi this morning," an official said.
According to officials, 10 fire tenders rushed to the spot to douse the flames and contain it from spreading to the adjacent area.
The cause of the fire was being investigated.
Chances of fire in Indian villages and cites are high as people usually ignore safety standards and store fuel and combustible materials in a haphazard manner.
