ANKARA, Oct. 14 (Xinhua) -- Four soldiers were injured and 16 others wounded after Kurdistan Workers' Party (PKK) militants staged attacks on Turkish security forces in southeastern and eastern Turkish provinces of Mardin, Hakkari, van, Diyarbakir, Adiyaman, Bitlis on Friday.
Three soldiers were killed and three others wounded after the outlawed detonated an explosive during the passage of a military vehicle on Mardin-Diyarbakir highway in the southeastern province of Mardin, Dogan News Agency reported.
Three wounded soldiers were taken to hospital in the province. Security forces subsequently launched an operation against the PKK militants.
Meanwhile, one soldier was killed and three others were wounded in a similar attack in nearby southeastern Turkish province of Hakkari when PKK militants remotely detonated an explosive placed in the Tekeli village near the Semdinli district.
Also on Friday, eight soldiers were wounded after the PKK detonated an explosive during the passage of a military vehicle in the Baskale district of the eastern province of Van.
In addition, PKK militants opened harassment fire at a gendarmerie border post in the Kulp district of the southeastern province of Diyarbakir. Security forces responded immediately to the attack.
PKK also attacked on Turkish forces on Friday in southeastern Turkish provinces of Adiyaman and Bitlis, leaving two soldiers injured.
The PKK is listed as a terrorist organization by the United States, the European Union and Turkey.
