JAKARTA, Oct. 13 (Xinhua) -- The Indonesian government is accelerating preparation for the Asian Games in 2018 in the country, a minister said here on Thursday.
Indonesia Youth and Sport Minister Imam Nahrawi said that constructions of facilities, such as venue, has been accelerated and coordination among those involved in the works has been boosted.
"The sport ministry, public work ministry, public housing ministry and the task force for the Asian Games as well as committee, continuously accelerate construction of venues," he said at the Jakarta main sport stadium.
The minister revealed that the construction of the venue is targeted to be completed in September to November next year.
He stressed that the government of Indonesia is very serious in the preparation for the regional sport event
The 2018 Asian Games is scheduled to be held in two big cities, Indonesia's capital of Jakarta and Palembang city, the provincial capital of South Sumatra, according to the ministry.
Indonesia has set up a target to be among the top 5 at the Asian Games with a target of 10 to 18 gold medals, the ministry has said.
Indonesia was awarded to host the sport event in September 2014 after withdrawal of original host Vietnam for economic reason.
