TAIPEI, Oct. 12 (Xinhua) -- Hung Hsiu-chu, chair of Taiwan's Kuomintang (KMT) Party, will attend a forum on the peaceful development of cross-Strait relations in Beijing early next month, the KMT announced on Wednesday.

It will be the first time for Hung to visit the Chinese mainland since becoming the head of the party on March 30.

It will also mark the first visit by the KMT's leader since the party lost the presidency and its legislative majority to the Democratic Progressive Party (DPP) in the January elections.

Hung will also pay a visit to the Sun Yat-sen Mausoleum in Nanjing, capital of east China's Jiangsu Province. Sun was the founding father of the KMT and a forerunner of China's anti-feudal revolution.

The KMT said in a statement that the Cross-Strait Trade, Economy and Culture Forum has played a key role and generated fruitful results.

The two parties have converted that forum into one focusing on peaceful development.

The forum is slated to be held from November 2 to 3. About 200 delegates from across the Strait will take part in the forum to discuss politics, economy, culture, society and youth.
