ISLAMABAD, Oct. 12 (Xinhua) -- Three Afghan Taliban leaders, including Ahmadullah Muti alias Mullah Nanai who served as intelligence chief, were reportedly have been arrested by Pakistani authorities, said local media on Wednesday, citing unnamed Taliban sources.
Suleman Agha, the Taliban governor for Daykund province, and Mullah Sani, who is also known as Samad Sani, chief of a religious school and a well-known Afghan trader who have links with the Taliban, have also been taken into custody in Pakistan's southwestern Balochistan Province, Pakistani newspaper the Express Tribune said.
No official statement on the arrests is released so far, but the unnamed Taliban sources said that at least eight Taliban leaders have been arrested from different parts in Balochistan in recent weeks.
The newspaper quoted the sources as reporting that Mullah Nanai was recently appointed as the Taliban Chief Justice by the new Taliban leader Maluvi Haibatullah, adding that Nanai was arrested three days ago in Balochistan.
It said that the arrests came after the Taliban's refusal to involve in peace talk with the government here for Pakistan's crackdown against the militants' group.
