ST. LOUIS, the United States, Oct. 11 (Xinhua) -- Who won the second U.S. presidential debate Sunday night, Hillary Clinton or Donald Trump? Well, according to social media, there was a third winner.
Kenneth Bone, a debate questioner, has been hailed as an "American Hero." Wearing a red cable-knit sweater and a white shirt, Bone asked a question on energy policy at the town-hall-like forum. "What steps will your energy policy take to meet our energy needs while at the same time remaining environmentally friendly and minimizing job loss for fossil power plant workers?" he asked.
This question, which had nothing to do with all the drama and scandals that had tainted the debate, has brought instant fame to the mustachioed undecided voter and made him an Internet sensation.
Bone, who in an interview with CNN claimed that he had only seven followers on Twitter, gained thousands of more followers in the hours after the debate. Some hailed the power plant worker from Illinois as the true "American Hero" that the country needs right now. Even his signature sweater is reportedly in high demand. According to the Daily Mail, at least two Facebook pages call for Bone to be the next president of the United States.
"I want Ken Bone to wrap that beautiful red cable-knit sweater of his around our divided nation. Only his warmth can save us now," writer Marc Carig tweeted.
Bone has not decided who he'll vote for but plans to wait until after the final debate next week. But according to the Associated Press, he hopes his newly found fame encourages Americans to pay attention to the election.
