Cambodia formally announces visit of Chinese President Xi to Cambodia

PHNOM PENH, Oct. 10 (Xinhua) -- The Cambodian foreign ministry announced Monday that Chinese President Xi Jinping will pay a state visit to Cambodia on Oct. 13 and 14.

It will be Xi's first visit to Cambodia since he took office in March 2013.

According to a foreign ministry statement, during the visit, Xi will be received in a Royal Audience by Cambodian King Norodom Sihamoni and pay a courtesy call on Queen-Mother Norodom Monineath at the Royal Palace.

Xi will hold bilateral talks with Cambodian Prime Minister Samdech Techo Hun Sen and then both leaders will preside over the signing ceremony on a number of documents, the statement said.

Cambodia's National Military Police spokesman Eng Hy said that authorities are ready to tighten security during the upcoming visit of President Xi.

"We have well-prepared to tighten security during President Xi's visit," he told Xinhua, adding that according to a National Police report, some 7,000 security personnel will be deployed during the visit.
