KHARTOUM, Oct. 9 (Xinhua) -- United Nations-African Union Mission in Darfur (UNAMID) on Sunday said it has not received any testimony, information, complaint or any other evidences about the use of chemical weapons by Sudanese government forces at Darfur's Jebel Marra area.

"UNAMID has 20,000 military and civilian components in Darfur, including at Jebel Marra, where no member of the mission has received any testimony or a complaint that refers to the use of chemical weapons," UNAMID chief Martin Uhomoibhi was quoted as saying in a statement by Sudan's Foreign Ministry following his meeting with Foreign Minister Ibrahim Ghandour.

"None of the mission's offices near Jebel Marra or its clinics has received any death or infection cases relating to the use of chemical weapons," the UNAMID chief added.

Last week, Amnesty International issued a report accusing the Sudanese army of killing dozens of civilians, including children, in attacks using chemical weapons in Sudan's Darfur, which the Sudanese government strongly refuted.

Also last week, the United Nations called on the Sudanese government to fully cooperate with the organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons regarding the claims on use of chemical weapons in Darfur.

Sudan's government described Amnesty International's report as "fabricated."

It noted that those accusations were baseless and came from organizations that target Sudan with the aim to disturb the Sudanese national project.
