ANKARA, Oct. 5 (Xinhua) -- A Turkish soldier was killed and three others wounded on Wednesday morning during clashes with Islamic State (IS) militants in the ongoing Euphrates Shield operation in northern Syria, Dogan News Agency reported.
Clashes occurred when the militants attempted to infiltrate the Ziyara area seized by the Free Syrian Army (FSA). Some 18 IS militants were also killed.
Turkish General Staff stated on Wednesday that Turkish warplanes have hit IS targets in the area.
Turkish army launched on Aug. 24 the Euphrates Shield cross-border operation to drive out the IS and other terrorists through FSA fighters backed by Turkish armor, artillery and jets.
