BRATISLAVA, Oct. 4 (Xinhua) -- Slovakia will host a summit attended by parliamentary leaders from European Union(EU) member states and European Parliament President Martin Schulz from October 6 to 7.

As many as 21 parliamentary chairs from EU member states have so far confirmed their participation in the event, organized by Slovak Parliamentary Chairman Andrej Danko.

"The summit of EU parliamentary chairpersons will present Slovakia as a cosmopolitan country that has been bringing not only nations together, but is also proud of its people and its culture," said Danko's spokesperson Eva Kliska on Tuesday.

On Thursday, a gala dinner will be held at Bratislava castle, which will be lit up in the colors of flags and national symbols of EU member states.

The summit itself will focus on challenges the EU is currently facing. "Some of them, such as security, stability, roles of national parliaments and social securities of our citizens, will be discussed during the joint session on Friday," added Kliska. Enditem
