Spanish consumer confidence falls 6.3 points in Sept.

MADRID, Oct. 3 (Xinhua) -- Spanish consumer confidence fell by 6.3 points from August to September to 91 points, indicating a negative perspective of Spain's economic situation, according to data published Monday by the Sociological Research Centre.

The consumer confidence indicator (CCI) ranges between 0 and 200 points, with ratings over 100 points considered as positive perceptions of the economic situation and ratings below that figure indicating a negative perception.

The indicator of the current economic situation decreased by 6.3 points from August to 83.8 points and the indicator of people's expectations about the future also fell by 6.3 points to 98.1 points.

In general, 43 percent of the people surveyed believe the current economic situation is worse than six months ago, while 20.7 percent believe it has improved.

A total of 32.1 percent think the economy will improve in the following six months while 37.5 percent think the situation will be worse.

Meanwhile, on a year-on-year basis, consumer confidence fell by 15.1 points since September 2015, with the indicator of people's expectations decreasing by 16.8 points and the indicator of the current situation falling by 13.4 points.

The agency did more than 1,500 interviews for the CCI which helps forecast the evolution of the country's economy taking into account consumer behavior.
