KHARTOUM, Oct. 3 (Xinhua) -- Sudan's President Omar al-Bashir said on Monday the door for dialogue would remain open to all Sudanese political forces to build Sudan, achieve peace and draft a comprehensive constitution.
Addressing the Sudanese parliament, al-Bashir reiterated his government's commitment to implementing a strategy to achieve comprehensive reform in the country, realize peace, break the thorn of rebellion, maintain security and stability, stem the sources of arms and protect human rights.
He also told the lawmakers that his government has adopted a plan to enhance Khartoum's external relations.
"Our strategy stands on enhancing cooperation with South Sudan and implementing a cooperation agreement with Juba together with promoting joint cooperation with China, Russia, India, Malaysia, and Brazil besides openness in the Sudanese-Arab relations," he said.
A meeting of the general assembly of the National Dialogue Conference will be held in Khartoum on Oct. 10.
In January 2014, al-Bashir declared an initiative calling on the opposition parties and the armed groups to join a national dialogue to end the country's crises.
The sessions of the national dialogue kicked off in October 2015 with the participation of a number of Sudanese political parties, civil society organizations and some Darfur armed groups.
However, major political parties and armed movements refused to participate in that conference, including the Revolutionary Front Alliance, which brings together the Sudan People's Liberation Movement (SPLM)/northern sector and the major Darfur armed movements.
The Darfur armed groups and the SPLM/northern sector insist that a preparatory conference should be held, according to decisions by the African Union Peace and Security Council and the United Nations Security Council, to bring together all the Sudanese political forces to agree on procedures to initiate an equitable dialogue with the government, a demand that the Sudanese government rejects.
