JAKARTA, Oct. 3 (Xinhua) -- Indonesia's inflation accelerated to 3.07 percent in September on annual basis, from 2.79 percent recorded in the previous month, a senior official at the national statistics agency said here Monday.
Suharyanto, head of Indonesia's Central Statistics Agency (BPS), said consumer price index increased to 0.22 percent in September compared with a deflation of 0.02 percent recorded in August following the increasing prices of processed foods.
"We expect inflation will be in check within the next three months, so that the target of inflation (this year) can be achieved," he told a press conference at the agency's office.
He added that core inflation in September was recorded at 3.21 percent, lower than 3.32 percent recorded in the previous month.
The Indonesian central bank expected to see inflation perch at a level of below 3.5 percent this year.
The Indonesian government expected the country's economy to expand 5.2 percent and 5.1 percent this year and next year respectively.
