TEHRAN, Oct. 2 (Xinhua) -- Iran claimed third place at FIFA Futsal World Cup 2016 after beating Portugal in penalty kicks, Iranian media reported on Sunday.
In the match played in Cali, Colombia on Saturday, the Iranian side, who lost to Russia 4-3 in Wednesday's semifinals, won over Portugal 4-3 in penalty shootout after a 2-2 draw at the regular time.
Iran had entered the semifinals after beating defending champion Brazil and Paraguay.
