NEW DELHI, Sept. 30 (Xinhua) -- At least two passengers were killed and 27 others injured when a passenger train rammed into a stationary goods train in India's eastern state of Odisha, officials said Friday.
The mishap took place Thursday evening near Cuttack railway station, about 26 km north of Bhubaneswar city, the capital of Odisha.
"Last evening Bhubaneswar-Bhadrak passenger train hit a stationary goods train in Cuttack,, killing two and injuring 27 others, some of them critically," railway officials said.
"Two bogies, which were mostly occupied by daily wagers, were toppled by the impact of the collision."
The injured were immediately removed to the hospital in Cuttack. Special force teams rushed to the scene to rescue trapped passengers in the train coaches.
Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu has ordered for an immediate probe into the accident, official broadcaster All India Radio reported Friday.
