ISLAMABAD, Sept. 29 (Xinhua) -- Pakistan's Defence Minister Khawaja Muhammad Asif said on Thursday that Indian forces used small arms to fire late Wednesday on the Pakistani side of the Line of Control (LoC).
"I want to tell the nation that our two soldiers have been martyred and nine others were injured in the firing," the minister told the media in Islamabad.
Pakistani forces responded in the same caliber in which Indian troops had fired, Asif said.
He said Indian troops fired in five sectors along the LoC early morning, adding firing has been stopped now.
The Pakistani minister was referring to statements by some retired Indian army generals to launch limited war and surgical strikes on the Pakistani side of the Line of Control.
"This was an attempt by the Indian forces in the context of the statements of the leaders. But our forces have given a befitting response," Asif said.
He said Pakistani forces will respond to any such attempt by the Indian forces to violate the ceasefire along the LoC.
