WINDHOEK, Sept. 28 (Xinhua) -- In an effort to deepen cooperation between China and Namibia, authorities from the two countries are carrying out research without any delay on specific cooperation projects, according to Charge d'Affaires Wu Wei of the Chinese Embassy.

Wu said this on occasion of the Chinese Embassy in Namibia celebrations on the 67th anniversary of the founding of China on Tuesday evening in Windhoek, where Namibia's former president Hifikepunye Pohamba and other dignitaries were present.

He said China sets a high value on President Hage Geingob's Harambee Prosperity Plan (HPP) and will work together with Namibia to identify and carry out cooperation projects under the Forum of China-African Cooperation (FOCAC) and make their own contribution to the implementation of HPP.

According to Wu, through development strategies and specific consultations as well as close communication, China and Namibia have initially selected cooperation areas like industrialization, agricultural modernization, infrastructure construction, green development, poverty reduction and human resources training, which indeed are priority areas of Namibia's development strategy.

Furthermore, Wu said, China will strive for new glory of China-Namibia and China-Africa cooperation with "down-to-earth work and bright hope."

"Namibia is an all-weather friend of China and the friendship gets deepened when we seek the common goal of national development, economic prosperity and improvement of people's welfare," he added.

Currently, China-Namibia cooperation has been progressing well in 2016 as projects like the China-aided Chairman Mao Zedong Secondary School in Otjomuise, Hardap Inland Aquaculture Centre and two northern roads of 200 kilometres have been successfully handed over.

"The China-aided Youth Training Centre with goods and materials and Defence Academy will be handed over soon, while the Husab Uranium Mine will shortly commission processing," he said.

Maureen Hinda, Namibia's Deputy Minister of International Relations, said at the event that Namibia's relationship with China over the past 26 years has become an all weather relationship and praised China for its continued investments and cooperation in various fields.
