KHARTOUM, Sept. 27 (Xinhua) -- Two engineers working for an oil company were shot dead on Tuesday by unidentified gunmen at an oil field in Sudan's West Kordofan State, Sudan tribune reported.
"The incident took place at Ki area of Balila oil field in West Kordofan State when the two workers were performing their regular patrol on the oil wells," a source at Petro N.G, a Sudanese-Chinese oil company, was quoted as saying.
The two Sudanese engineers are working at the production and development department at Ki oil field in West Kordofan state, the report said.
The source noted that the unidentified gunmen shot the two engineers as they were driving their car, adding that the company sent a plane on Tuesday to the oil field to bring the bodies of the two victims.
Sudan Tribune, meanwhile, quoted responsible sources in West Kordofan state as saying that "the shooter has been wanted by the justice authorities in the state for a long time for his involvement in many crimes at various areas of the state."
The police is currently perusing the perpetrator who is expected to be arrested at any moment, the report said.
West Kordofan is considered Sudan's number one oil state as it includes all Sudan's producing oil fields such as Heglig, Difra, Kanar, Balila, western of Al-Fula, Neem and Al-Barasaya. Enditem
