TAIYUAN, Sept. 27 (Xinhua) -- Eight people died in a highway traffic accident in north China's Shanxi province on Tuesday, local police said.
A van, carrying nine people, collided with a truck around 4:40 p.m. Tuesday in a tunnel on the highway from provincial capital Taiyuan to Gujiao city in the northwest.
Six people died on the spot. Two of the three injured later died in hospital. All the casualties are from the van, police said.
Investigation into the cause of the accident is underway.
