KIGALI, Sept. 27 (Xinhua) -- Rwanda is optimistic of clinching investment deals with global firms during next week's Africa Hotel Investment Forum due to be held Oct. 4-6 in Rwanda capital Kigali.

It is expected to convene leading international hotel investors in Africa with local operators, ministers, government officials and industry experts, to discuss all aspects of hotel investment and operation in Africa.

The three-day investment conference will lay a platform for African nations including Rwanda to promote awareness of investment opportunities in the hospitality industry.

"Global hotel investors attending the conference will be able to discover potential hospitality investment opportunities in our country. It will also be an opportunity for local hotel developers to forge partnerships with investors," said Belise Kariza, chief tourism officer at Rwanda Development Board.

She added that the country will provide an opportunity to delegates to experience some of the renowned attractions the country has to offer.

According to organizers of the event, the investment summit will look at the economic trends, air connectivity and ultimately, how to drive investment into tourism projects.

The continental forum will among other things deliberate key issues geared towards supporting hotel and infrastructure development across Africa.

Travel and tourism is seen as a highly attractive growth industry in Africa, according to the World Travel and Tourism Council. The sector is responsible for 8.1 percent of Africa's GDP and it is forecast to rise at 4.9 percent per annum until 2025.
