HANOI, Sept. 27 (Xinhua) -- Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc on Tuesday decided to set up a quick response force in Vietnam's capital Hanoi to deal with food safety problems.

Phuc made the decision in a working session with Hanoi authorities on Tuesday.

According to Phuc, food safety is of critical importance since it relates to people's life and health. However, the city dwellers have not fully trusted on the safety of local food, reported Vietnamese government's e-Portal.

In addition, abattoirs haven't been well managed while food safety violators haven't been strictly handled, said Phuc, urging local authorities to tighten the control of small abattoirs, and take drastic actions to improve management of street food.

Vietnamese cabinet chief also urged to publicize information about unqualified food providers, launch food safety checking campaigns, and pay more attention on food safety at craft villages.

From January to September, the city inspected nearly 77,400 food processing facilities and discovered 12,370 violations of relevant regulations. More than 22.6 billion Vietnamese dong (over 1 million USD) in fines was collected.
