Vietnam's southern stock market ends up

HO CHI MINH CITY, Sept. 27 (Xinhua) -- VN-Index, the stock market index of Ho Chi Minh (HCM) City bourse in south Vietnam, closed at 684.89 points on Tuesday, up 7.85 points, or 1.16 percent, against the previous trading day's closing session.

About 130.570 million shares worth 2.622 trillion Vietnamese dong (VND) (119.49 million U.S. dollars) changed hands at the southern HCM City Stock Exchange. Prices of 132 stocks went up, 114 stocks fell down, while 40 stocks remained unchanged.

VN30-Index, the new benchmark index for the southern bourse, which tracks the 30 leading stocks by both market capitalization and liquidity, closed at 671.21 points, up 5.11 points, or 0.77 percent.

A total of 65.243 million shares worth 1.379 trillion VND (62.86 million U.S. dollars) were traded on Tuesday.
