MOSCOW, Sept. 27 (Xinhua) -- Russia will lift its ban on imports of Egyptian fruits and vegetables, except for potatoes, the Russian news agency Sputnik reported Tuesday.

Russia and Egypt agreed to resume deliveries of agricultural produce from Egypt to Russia, except for potatoes, on condition that the Egyptian side meet Russia's sanitary and safety criteria, said Rosselkhoznadzor, the Russian agricultural watchdog agency.

Russian experts will visit Egypt in October or November this year to check the effectiveness of Egyptian measures to comply with Russian phytosanitary requirements, the agency said.

Russia banned fruit and vegetable imports from Egypt over safety concerns on Sept. 22, 2015.
