ATHENS, Sept. 26 (Xinhua) -- More than six out of 10 Greeks call for early general elections, only a year after they went to ballot stations for the second national elections within nine months, according to an opinion survey on Sunday.
According to the poll, which was carried out by polling firm "Opinion Poll" on behalf of "Eleftheros Typos" (Free Press) newspaper, 62.3 percent of respondents asked for snap elections compared to 22.4 percent of voters who preferred that the current Left-led ruling coalition to continue its work.
Reaffirming results of several similar surveys conducted in recent months, the poll showed that most Greeks are not satisfied with the government policies and therefore are giving an increasing lead to the main opposition party.
Among all government policies, 85.7 percent of participants in the poll rejected in particular the economic policy, while 13.5 percent approved it.
According to the survey, 82.6 of interviewed Greeks believed that the country is heading to the wrong direction and 13.8 percent were satisfied with the current course.
The conservative main opposition New Democracy (ND) party would easily win the elections, if they were conducted today, according to Opinion Poll.
The survey also showed that 35.9 percent of Greeks consider ND chief Kyriakos Mitsotakis would be more suitable for the post of prime minister than current Premier Alexis Tsipras, who won 19.8 percent of the Greeks surveyed.
However, 40.4 percent of the respondents said that none of the two leaders was capable of leading Greece out of the seven-year debt crisis.
