UNITED NATIONS, Sept. 23 (Xinhua) -- Albania on Friday said that the implementation of the 2030 Agenda is conducive to cementing connection between development and security and it is an international platform for a better world.
Bujar Nishani, the president of Albania, made the statement as he was taking the floor at the annual high-level debate of the UN General Debate, the week-long event which entered its fourth day here Friday.
"Albania also views the implementation of 2030 Agenda as an international platform for strengthening the connection that exists between development and security, believing that this Agenda will serve as a guide for our action aimed at the sustainable development during the next 15 years for the peoples, the planet, peace, partnership and prosperity as well," the president said.
The 2030 Agenda, including 17 Sustainable Development Goals, was adopted by world leaders in September 2015 to serve as the blueprint for the global development efforts for the next 15 years.
The Agenda, together with the Paris Agreement on climate change, is considered as an opportunity of the present generation and for the ones to come for a better life, he said.
