KIGALI, Sept. 19 (Xinhua) -- With youth at the risk of being radicalized than at any time in history, Rwanda announced Monday it will seek to involve youth in peace building activities as it marks this year's International Day of Peace.

"The main focus of this year's peace celebrations is on youth, we want them to understand their role in building sustainable peace in their communities," Fidele Ndayisaba, the executive secretary of the National Unity and Reconciliation Commission told journalists in Kigali.

Various activities will be conducted to mark the annual celebrations which fall on September 21.

These include dialogues and discussions in schools and a parliamentary session of youth representatives from across the country.

Ndayisaba said unity is the foundation of peace and backbone of sustainable development.

"It is also in this sense that we need to reflect on the past but also make real commitments to achieve sustainable peace and development," he said. Enditem
