VIENTIANE, Sept. 16 (Xinhua) -- The First Beidou Continuously Operating Reference Station (CORS) was officially inaugurated at Saysettha Development Zone in Laos' capital Vientiane on Friday.

The Beidou CORS will provide high-precision navigation, positioning and time services for Laos' activities of navigation and surveillance, engineering surveying, urban and rural construction, meteorology and disaster response, among others, said Li Weisen, Deputy Director General of National Administration of Surveying, Mapping and Geoinformation of China at the inauguration ceremony.

This also promotes Beidou's mission of global sharing of resources, Li said, adding that the National Administration of Surveying, Mapping and Geoinformation of China will work with the Lao side for mutually beneficial cooperation.
