BEIJING, Sept. 14 (Xinhua) -- Tesla have been involved in several accidents around the world, some of which are fatal. These accidents call the safety of Tesla, especially its automatic driving features into question.
The following is the accidents caused by Tesla autopilot technology worldwide in 2016.
On Sept. 7, a Tesla car slammed into a tree at high speed in Netherlands. But the automaker stressed that the car was not in autopilot mode.
On Aug. 10, Tesla said that one of its cars had crashed in Beijing while in autopilot mode. However, the company emphasized that it was the driver's responsibility to maintain control of the vehicle.
In July, a Tesla Model X swerved off a road and hit a post in Montana when it was in autopilot mode. The driver and passengers were not hurt.
On May 7, a Tesla driver was killed in a collision with a truck when using the autopilot technology in Florida. The U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration is investigating the incident.
On Jan. 20, a Tesla car crashed into a sanitation vehicle on 2016 in Hebei Province in north China, killing a 23-year-old driver.
The family of the driver put the blame on Tesla's "Autopilot" technology and have taken legal action against the well-known electric automaker.
