MANILA, Sept. 14 (Xinhua) -- Typhoon Meranti is expected to exit Philippines on Wednesday as it continues to move west northwest at 22 km per hour in Bashi Channel after hitting land in Itbayat, in the northern Philippine Batanes province, the Philippine weather bureau said.
The bureau said in its latest bulletin that Meranti continues to pack a maximum sustained winds of up to 210 km per hour near the near the centre with gustiness of up to 245 km per hour.
The government has warned residents of northern Philippine provinces too prepare for possible impact of the typhoon.
The government said it has not received reports of any damage related to the typhoon.
