Liu wins China's ninth table tennis gold at Rio Paralympics

RIO DE JANEIRO, Sept. 13 (Xinhua) -- Liu Meng secured China's ninth table tennis gold medal of the Rio Olympics by defeating compatriot Lei Lina in the women's singles class 9 final in Rio on Tuesday.

The 19-year-old, whose impairment was the result of a car crash, needed just 23 minutes to wrap up the match 3-0 (12-10, 13-11, 13-11) at Riocentro.

In the bronze medal duel, Poland's Karolina Pek came back from two sets down to beat Brazil's Danielle Rauen 3-2 (8-11, 8-11, 11-9, 11-5, 11-5) in a match that lasted 39 minutes.
