Two Iraqi asylum seekers detained on suspicion of murder, robbery in central Finland

HELSINKI, Sept.12 (Xinhua) -- Two Iraqi asylum seekers were arrested on suspicion of murder and robbery in central Finland, media reported on Monday.

A 52-year-old local man was found dead on Sunday morning in Kajaani, central Finland. Police suspected that he was killed in robbery.

In addition, a 41-year-old native man was robbed on Sunday night.

On Monday, police captured two Iraqi men who were suspected to have been involved in the two incidents.

Jarkko Maksniemi, detective chief inspector from Kainuu Police Department, confirmed that the suspects were Iraqi asylum seekers living in Otanmaki reception center in Kajaani, according to Finnish daily Turun Sanomat.

The two detainees were suspected of murder and robbery.

The police said that they would continue to investigate the cases.
