China wins two bronze medals in horseback wrestling at 2nd World Nomad Games in Kyrgyzstan

SHOLPON-ATA (Kyrgyzstan), Sept. 8 (Xinhua) -- Chinese athletes won two bronze medals in horseback wrestling in the 70 kg and 90 kg weight categories on the racetrack in Kyrgyzstan's town of Cholpon-Ata during the 2nd World Nomad Games on Wednesday.

The finals competition in horseback wrestling (er enish in the Kyrgyz language) was held on the fourth day of the games.

Twenty-five athletes from Kyrgyzstan, Kazakhstan, Russia, China, Hungary, Mongolia and Afghanistan took part in in three weight categories: 70 kg, 90 kg and above 90 kg.

Chinese athlete Akat Duishon uulu won the bronze medal in the 70 kg weight category. The gold medal in this weight category went to Kyrgyz sportsman and silver to the athlete from Kazakhstan.

Another Chinese sportsman, Bachand Muhbili uulu, won the bronze medal in the 90 kg weight category. First and second places in this weight category were also won by athletes from Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan, respectively.

Earlier, Chinese athletes won a bronze medal in arguably the most spectacular event of the games, taking third place in kok-boru, where two teams of riders fight for the carcass of a goat, which must be raised off the ground and throw into the opponent's well. Chinese players defeated their rivals from Bashkortostan (Russia) with a score of 18-2.

The six-day World Nomad Games kicked off in Kyrgyzstan's resort town of Cholpon-Ata on September 3, involving more than 500 athletes from 62 countries and regions around the world.

The 1st World Nomad Games were also held in Kyrgyzstan in 2014, when 19 countries took part.

The Nomad Games aim to revive and preserve the historical heritage of the world's nomadic nations.
