NEW DELHI, Sept. 6 (Xinhua) -- Indian Home Minister Rajnath Singh Tuesday met Prime Minister Narendra Modi and briefed him on the two-day visit of an all-party parliamentary delegation to Indian-controlled Kashmir.
Sources said Singh told the prime minister about the situation in Kashmir and the delegation's efforts to resolve the crisis in the northern region, where over 70 people have died in unrest since the killing of 22-year-old militant commander Burhan Wani by Indian security forces 58 days back.
The home minister Monday said that the government was keen on resolving the crisis in Kashmir.
The parliament is very serious about the situation there, Singh said, "We are working to alleviate the situation in Indian-controlled Kashmir."
The home minister had stressed that the government was "willing to speak with anyone who wants piece in Kashmir."
"As far as talks are concerned, our doors are open to everyone who wants peace and normalcy. Not only doors, even our ventilators are open for talks," he added.
Kashmir has been on the boil since the killing of Wani, Hizbul Mujahiddin's poster body for new militancy.
Both India and Pakistan stake claim to Kashmir and have fought at least three major wars over the northern region in the past 65 years.
