Exports in Macedonia up by 5.6 pct in Jan-July

SKOPJE, Sept. 5 (Xinhua) -- Exported goods from the Macedonia from January to July amounted to about 2.7 million U.S. dollars, marking a 5.6-percent growth compared to the same period last year, Macedonia's State Statistical Office said Monday.

In the meantime, according to preliminary data, the value of imported goods for the same period amounted to about 3.8 million U.S. dollars, marking a 4.4-percent growth compared to the same period last year.

Therefore, official statistics showed that Macedonia's trade deficit in the period from January to July 2016 amounted to about 1.1 million U.S. dollars.

Germany, Britain, Serbia, Greece and Italy were the main trade partners of Macedonia based on external trade volume.

Macedonia exported mainly precious metals or precious metal compounds as the active substance, ignition wiring sets and other wiring sets of a kind used in vehicles, aircraft or ships, ferro-nickel and clothes.

The country imported more products such as platinum and platinum alloys, petroleum oils and oils obtained from bituminous minerals, and electricity, the statistical office said Monday. Enditem
