SINGAPORE, Sept. 2 (Xinhua) -- Singapore's President Tony Tan Keng Yam on Friday launched the Harmony in Diversity Gallery which aims at building interfaith peace in a religiously diverse society.

The gallery was produced in collaboration with community partners such as the Inter-Religious Organization (IRO) which had mooted the idea in 2015, said the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) in a statement.

The gallery was envisaged as a learning platform for younger Singaporeans to foster mutual respect and understanding for each other by providing them with the basic knowledge and awareness of the major religions in Singapore and the common values which they share.

The ministry said that the gallery also serves as a key platform under SGSecure counter-terrorism movement's "Community Cohesion" pillar to engage Singaporeans on the importance of racial and religious harmony.

Located at Singapore's Ministry of National Development building, the gallery comprises four galleries of exhibits, artefacts and interactive features.
