BEIRUT, Aug. 30 (Xinhua) -- Lebanon's Prime Minister Tammam Salam called Tuesday on Lebanese to follow the path of dialogue "for the sake of Lebanon."
In a statement on the Lebanese Shiite Spiritual Leader Imam Moussa Sadr, Salam said "the imam is a grand national leader who believed in Lebanon and coexistence between Muslims and Christians."
He added that imam Sadr sacrificed his life to defend a unique image of Lebanon as a dialogue scene and a value for the entire humanity, always calling Lebanese to go beyond personal interests and preserve national unity and independence.
Sadr and his two companions, Sheikh Mohammad Yacoub and journalist Abbas Badreddine, left Lebanon in 1978 to Libya upon an invitation by its former leader Moammar Qadhafi but were never seen after.
The Lebanese judiciary issued in 2008 an indictment against Qadhafi and six Libyan officials, accusing them of kidnapping Sad and his companions.
