LIVERPOOL, Aug. 29 (Xinhua) -- Detectives in Liverpool issued details Monday of a man they are seeking who held up a downtown sex shop while wearing a bright red dress and wig.

The detectives from the city's CID, issued photos of the armed robber taken from closed circuit cameras in the shop in city center Colquitt Street.

Staff at the store, Nice 'N' Naughty, told police that the men entered the store around 17:40 on Sunday, dressed in a red dress, wearing a wig, grey cap and also wearing white gloves.

The robber produced a black handgun which he used to threaten a member of the staff. Following a brief struggle, the robber snatched money from the counter and fled from the shop.

Detective Inspector Steve McGrath from Liverpool CID said: "We are keen to speak with the man pictured to assist us in our enquiries. The staff at the shop were thankfully unhurt but understandably distressed to be threatened with what had the appearance of a firearm, regardless of whether it was real or fake."

"We have spoken with the owners and staff to offer reassurance but I want to assure all businesses that we will do everything possible to identify this offender and bring him to justice, and ensure Liverpool City Center is a safe place to live, work and visit," said McGrath.
